Grandpa driving.

I have a tendency to drive pretty fast. There are a lot of times Becca tells me I should slow down and stop tailgaiting. Most of the time I tell her that the driver ahead of us should either get going or get out of the way. Then I slow down. Because she asks nicely.

Yesterday, we were driving to get dinner and Becca started laughing. I asked her what was so funny.

She told me I was driving like a grandpa.

Evidently, I've recently been driving at a less-than-normal clip. I took an exit yesterday at 25 MPH. Why? Because that's how fast the sign said to go. It's called safety.

Point being, a lot of things change when you're about to be a parent. I have to admit, I wasn't expecting it. I definitely didn't think I would start driving like a grandpa. But I'll take it.

Becca is feeling well - she's been having contractions on and off for the past few days. She's a trooper - I can't even explain how amazing she's been.

We're getting excited to start a new stage in this process. Sometimes it feels like it can't go fast enough.

Let's just hope it moves faster than my grandpa driving.

Well, we might as well.

So, it's come to this. I wonder what our kid will say when he/she tells his/her friends about the blog we used to let our friends and family know about his/her birth. Probably that I should have used an iPhone. I am so uncool.

I figure that - now that I have the ability to write - I might as well try my best to be witty. Not sarcastic, because that comes across as rude and disrespectful. Instead, I'm going to try to be intelligent and educated. Blog readers love that. It makes them say things like, "That's so true" and "He's so intuitive" and "This Starbucks is really busy today." Those are the type of people I'm shooting for.

Anyway, we'll do our best to keep everyone who might care up to date about what's going on in these next days/weeks/months. If anything, it will give you a nice addition to your daily Facebook/Myspace/TMZ.com rotation. I'd love to hit cleanup in that lineup.

In all seriousness, we're really excited to welcome this baby into our world. We're feeling an intense combination of fear, excitement and impatience. We think we have everything ready, but I'm sure we're missing something. Oh well. I think that's why we have Grandmas.

Until then, we'll enjoy the last few moments of relative sanity.

Blessings,

Ryan and Becca
