Brennan's Trip to Florida

we had to swim at night-time because it was so sunny and hot!
after swimming and listening to music, brennan just passed out while we were dancing

So, the trip down to Florida did not end up happening quite as planned, but it happened and I will attach pictures to prove it :)

So here's a funny story on how the trip started--apparently getting to Florida was not meant to be an easy process. Get ready for some funny (now) drama!

So, the afternoon before (Saturday) we were going to fly out Ryan, Brennan, and I were out in the backyard and Ryan was throwing a frisbee for the dog to chase. We were standing in the driveway watching the dog chase the frisbee. By some fluke chance, the frisbee his the corner of the house and came directly at me and hit me right in the nose. Long story short (if you want the long story, I'll tell you, but don't feel the need to post all of the details on here!), I ended up with a cut on my nose, possibly a chipped nose bone (don't know if that has a name), and then a swollen, black eye!! All this right before I have to fly down to Florida and stand up in my friend's wedding...(we are just thankful the frisbee hit me and not brennan!)

so, as if this wasn't enough drama for one day--I ended up getting a phone call from my parents at about 9pm that night (we were planning on leaving around 6:30 for the airport) telling me that my mom was not going to be able to fly down with me the next morning (she was planning on flying down with brennan and I, while ryan would meet us there later that week)....so again, long story short, I ended up having to fly by myself with brennan down to florida. Scary!

I'm trying to condense this story, I apolgize, there was just so many things that somehow all happened in the same day!

So, Sunday morning, Ryan drops us off at the airport with two carry-on bags (I had originally planned on putting a few things in my mom's bag, so I had to pack a second bag at the last minute), one suitcase, and a baby in a front pack carrier. I must have looked like I was running away--me, a baby, two bags and a black eye ;) (not funny, just an observation...)

So the first flight was just from Milwaukee to Chicago, so we spent more time taxi-ing than actually flying--the plane was really tiny, hot and Brennan kept trying to grab the guy's arm that was sitting next to us...otherwise he really did pretty well. I was very lucky to have a nice guy help me get all of our crap off the plane since I didn't have the space on the tiny plane to get Brennan back in the carrier. Thank goodness for nice travelers!

So we got to Chicago and me, Brennan, and all of our crap trucked it half-way across the aiport, to our gate. We had just enough time to change him, get a bottle of water for me, and get in line to load the next plane. By the time we walked on to the plane, Brennan had passed out in my arms and continued to sleep for the first 2 of 2 1/2 hours of the plane ride--it was AWESOME! Once he woke up he just played with the couple of people next to us, ate a little and then we landed. He did great!

So, the plane rides went great, but the greatness ended there for the day. Although, it was very awesome that my friend Cheree (and Josh) were there to meet me at the airport--without them we wouldn't have survived the rest of the day.

So, we had to go find the rental car, which ended up being an off-site company, so we had to take a shuttle, no big deal. The big deal came when we got to the rental place and ended up waiting in line for 45 minutes all the while Brennan had run out of patience, was wet and FRANTICALLY hungry. Needless to say, I was at the end of my rope when we finally got out of there. So we finally get the van (yes, it was a van!) and drive to the timeshare. We get there, and I think that this is going to be the easy part and we'll finally be able to relax--Wrong! Because my mom was supposed to have been with me, and she's the member and I'm not, they wouldn't let us check in! So, here it is already 8pm and we've been traveling since about 11am and we can't check in!! Finally after a lot of hassle, they let us check in.

Because this is long and not even half of the details of the drama, I'll wrap it up and if you are dying to know it all, I can tell you some other time :)

My mom was able to join us the next day so we drove to Orlando to pick her up. We hung out for a few days, developed a list of things this timeshare was really terrible at; we picked Ryan up from the airport on Thursday. We then had the chance to spend the night at the beach on Friday since the wedding was in Melbourne (where I lived for a little while as a kid, and where I met Cheree)--Brennan LOVED the beach!! He was absolutely mesmerized by the ocean and loved digging his toes in the sand. Super cute! The wedding was beautiful and it was fun to get to know people that were standing up.

We all left Florida on Sunday and got home without any drama, thank goodness--Brennan slept the entire long flight and was just awake for the short flight from Chicago to Milwaukee--he really did an amazing job, especially considering his schedule was completely thrown off for a whole week!

Ok, time to post pictures--if you need more of a laugh, there is much more to tell--I just know that most people haven't probably even made it this far into the post!!
